Summer Reading List: Draft Nelson County Comprehensive Plan
Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission to review draft comp plan
Here’s something to pair with your morning coffee: The DRAFT Nelson County Comprehensive Plan to be presented at today’s Joint Meeting of the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission.
It is a 213-page report and though I do recommend reading it through thoroughly, you can certainly Apple/Control-F your way through the PDF if you’re short on time (and coffee).
“Short term” rental appears 27 times.
“Traffic” appears 46 times.
“Housing” appears a gobsmacking 230 times.
“Education” makes an appearance 72 times.
And “dog park” appears 0 times. (IYKYK)
The joint BOS/PC meeting is happening today at 6pm in the old board room at the courthouse in Lovingston.
Now for some full disclosure: My husband got drafted to run for the West District Board of Supervisors position in Nelson County. It was such a last minute maneuver — happening days before leaving for our annual trip to the Chesapeake Bay — the Nelson County Times missed the news and is sending a reporter to our farm for a follow-up.
So the short story is yes, Tommy Stafford is running for Board of Supervisors to represent the West District in Nelson County. This blog remains devoted to covering the Wintergreen and Nelson County real estate market but in the spirit of transparency, I felt like I at least needed to address some rumors that have been swirling around since we’ve been out of town.
What do I think of him running? He’s a natural on the trail and he runs his own race.
